Commerce & retail
In short
VenSoc builds and maintains commerce systems for retailers and B2B distributors — Shopify Plus and Magento storefronts, headless implementations, and the inventory, pricing and order synchronisation between the storefront and the systems behind it. Published work spans the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Pakistan.
What actually breaks in a growing commerce operation?
What breaks is rarely the storefront. It is the moment the storefront and the back office disagree — about stock, about price, about whether an order was captured — and no rule exists to decide which one is right.
A catalogue of a few hundred products with one warehouse rarely surfaces the problem. Multiple locations, B2B pricing tiers, marketplace channels or a wholesale arm all do. At that point the business is running two sources of truth and reconciling them by hand.
VenSoc treats the synchronisation layer as a system in its own right, with an explicit answer to four questions most integrations never address: which side is authoritative per field, what happens when a write fails midway, how a duplicate message is detected, and how a missed window is replayed. That is the difference between overselling and a delay.
What VenSoc has built in commerce
Storefronts across three platforms and four countries, several running for years under ongoing support.
- Cool Performance (United Kingdom)
- Shopify storefront for a retailer of Formula, GT and eSport racing simulators — a high-consideration, configurable product category.
- Moose Scooters (United Kingdom)
- Shopify build for a used electric scooter and bike retailer, where individual stock units rather than catalogue lines drive the model.
- Tools-HQ (Canada) and MCI eShop (Pakistan)
- Magento and custom commerce platforms for electrical cable and tooling suppliers selling into trade rather than consumer buyers.
- Olga de Polga (Australia)
- Ongoing SEO and search marketing for an Australian clothing brand — commerce demand work alongside the build.
What we typically do in this sector
- Shopify & commerce engineering
VenSoc builds Shopify Plus storefronts, headless Hydrogen implementations, and the integration layer that keeps them reconciled with ERP inventory, pricing and order data. The differentiator is doing both sides: most commerce agencies stop at the storefront, and most ERP consultancies never write production commerce code at all..
- Odoo ERP implementation & customisation
VenSoc implements and customises Odoo for mid-market manufacturers, distributors and professional services firms. Work covers current Odoo releases, Community and Enterprise — implementation, custom module development, data migration from legacy systems, third-party integration, and ongoing support.
- SAP & ERP integration
VenSoc builds integration middleware between SAP and the systems around it — commerce platforms, warehouse systems, CRMs and custom applications. Work covers S/4HANA, SAP Business One and SAP BTP, using IDoc, OData and REST interfaces with an intermediate queue rather than direct point-to-point calls..
- SEO, GEO & demand engineering
VenSoc runs technical SEO and generative engine optimisation (GEO) programmes for B2B companies. GEO is the practice of making a site retrievable and citable by AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
Common questions
- Do you work on Shopify, or on the ERP behind it?
- Both, and that combination is unusual. Most commerce agencies stop at the storefront and hand the integration to someone else; most ERP consultancies never write production commerce code. VenSoc builds the storefront, the ERP side and the synchronisation layer between them, which removes the failure mode where two vendors each believe the other owns reconciliation.
- Can you take over a store somebody else built?
- Yes. The first step is an audit of the existing theme, apps and integrations, and a written assessment of what is safe to keep. Inherited commerce builds usually carry a cluster of overlapping apps doing similar jobs, and removing them is often worth more than adding anything new.
