What does a mobile app actually cost to keep alive?
More than it costs to build, over five years. Each iOS and Android release changes something, store policies tighten, and the backend the app depends on has its own upgrade cycle. An app is a system with a mobile front end, and VenSoc prices and staffs it as one.
The failure mode is familiar: an agency ships a polished app, the contract ends, and eighteen months later it is rejected from the store for a policy change nobody was watching. VenSoc’s mobile work is sold with the maintenance attached, because that is where the app either survives or does not.

Native or cross-platform — which does VenSoc recommend?
The choice depends on what the app has to do, not on what the team prefers. Content, commerce and membership apps are well served by Flutter, which halves the maintenance surface and keeps one codebase for both stores. Anything leaning on device hardware, background processing or platform-specific UI gets native.
VenSoc has built both and will say which one a given project needs before quoting it. The honest answer is sometimes “a well-built responsive web application, and no native app at all” — a recommendation an app-only shop cannot afford to make, and one a firm that also builds the web platform can.
What does not change with the choice: the backend is designed with the app, the entitlement logic lives server-side, and every release is tested on real devices before it is submitted.
What kinds of apps has the VenSoc team built?

A social app lives or dies on feeds, notifications and moderation at scale; an education app on content delivery, progress tracking and offline access; a subscription service on entitlements that behave identically on iOS, Android and the web; a business application on integration with the systems the company already runs. VenSoc has built each, so the first conversation is about which of those constraints applies, not whether an app is possible.

How does AI change mobile development at VenSoc?
AI shortens the build and widens what one engineer can cover, under the same verification discipline VenSoc applies everywhere: nothing inferred, tests proven to fail before they are trusted, and store submission treated as a gate rather than a hope.

- Can you take over an existing app another agency built?
- Yes, after a paid assessment. An inherited app is read before it is quoted: the codebase, the store listing, the backend it depends on, and what is required to ship the next release. Where the honest recommendation is a rebuild, VenSoc says so with the reasoning, rather than billing months of maintenance on something that should be replaced.
- Do you build the backend too, or only the app?
- Both, and usually together. A mobile app that depends on a backend built by someone else is a project with two accountable parties, which in practice means none. VenSoc designs the API, the entitlement logic and the content pipeline alongside the app, so a subscription behaves identically on iOS, Android and the web.
- Who handles App Store and Google Play submission?
- VenSoc does, including the review cycle and the policy changes that follow. Store rejection is a routine engineering event rather than a crisis, and it is handled inside the maintenance retainer rather than as a change request.
